ICBRG.CO AS has developed a groundbreaking solution for early detection of potential fires onboard ships carrying rechargeable devices and electric vehicles. ICBRG OMNI is a patent-pending state of the art technology that identify early signs of fire risk in lithium-ion batteries.

With over 200 reported incidents and 12 lost ships between 2022-2023, according to Allianz, the shipping industry faces an increasing sense of urgency. Particularly car carriers are now demanding solutions that provide early warning and protection. Until ICBRG OMNI, there has been a lack of effective early warning systems for such fires.

ICBRG OMNI continuously monitors and identifies early signs of battery degradation, and provides critical alerts to the crew, helping to prevent catastrophic fires. This system is already in pilot testing with Wallenius Wilhelmsen, and we are also now in a test project with Batteriretur, a leading battery collection and recycling company. Also, major insurance companies such as Allianz, If Cargo, and Redkik have expressed significant interest.

The ICBRG team has a proven track record of taking tech-based startups from idea to public listing, and now, ICBRG OMNI is set to establish a new standard for safety at sea.

Electrification of transportation is great for the planet as long as it’s safe. Inspired by the icebergs, ICBRG will make the world a better place by detecting and preventing lithium ion based fires and incidents.

Frequently asked questions

What is Omni?

Omni is a groundbreaking fire alarm developed by ICBRG that can detect early signs of fire in batteries. This is especially relevant for cargo ships and ferries transporting electric vehicles, where the risk of fire can be catastrophic.

How does Omni work?

Omni uses patent-pending technology that monitors batteries to detect the earliest signs of degradation and overheating. This allows for warnings about potential fires before they actually start.

Why is Omni important for cargo ships and ferries?

Battery fires on ships can spread rapidly and are very difficult to control. By detecting problems at an early stage, Omni gives the crew time to take action to prevent a disaster, unlike current systems that only alert when the fire has already begun.

What types of fires can Omni detect?

Omni is specifically designed to detect fires in batteries, which have become an increasing threat on cargo ships since 2022. The technology can detect signs of overheating and faults in batteries before they escalate into a fire.
